Frequently Asked Questions
What ribbon do you use?
For our low cost print, we use high quality double faced satin ribbon for all of the printing. Sometimes we have to use single faced ribbon but we will always notify you in advance. For our full colour print processes we can print on most ribbon types – Satin, Grosgrain (ribbed), Cotton, Linen and Tencel™.
How quickly can I get my order?
We print in house and the usual turnaround time is between 1 and 3 working days. For plain ribbon we send same day if ordered before 3pm. Large orders may require more picking time and a courier so check with us on Tel: +44 (0)1530 263318
Can you print in white?
Yes, using our full colour + white transfer print process we can print white onto Satin, Grosgrain(ribboned), Cotton, Linen, and Tencel. For wider ribbon (50mm or 100mm) we also offer Vinyl White Print.
Do you print on grosgrain ribbon? Cotton ribbon? Tencel ribbon?
Yes – We can print on grosgrain, cotton, Tencel and Linen ribbon types with our full colour print processes. Even when the artwork is one colour we have to mix it using that same ink as for the full colour print.
Can you print edge to edge?
We usually print a discrete logo / artwork / message in the middle of the ribbon due to the woven edges on top and bottom. For edge to edge printing or flood fill, contact us with artwork.
Can you match print colour(s) to Pantone / cmyk / RGB colour references?
Using full colour CMYK printing process we can print as close as possible to your Pantone / cmyk / RGB colour references.
Can you match ribbon colour to Pantone / cmyk / RGB colour references?
For smaller quantities and quick turn-around, we can match to stock ribbon colours, or the closest manufacturer stock ribbon.
Large quantities of ribbon can be dyed to Pantone or other colour reference, but are a minimum of 3000 meters and a 12 weeks lead time.
Can you print patterns and continuous artwork?
Yes – All our print processes can print patterns (subject to artwork). Some of our print process can print continuous lines etc. Others are limited to half a metre or so before there may be a small overlap or gap between prints.
What is Tencel™ Ribbon
Ribbon woven from Tencel™ fibre is one of the most sustainable fabric yarns in the world (see this link). The fibre is produced by Austrian company Lenzing and is made from Spruce and Eucalyptus trees that are FSC and PEFC certified. The soft feel and light handle of Tencel is so similar to cotton, it is hard to distinguish between the two.
Tencel uses 3% of the irrigated water conventional cotton requires and emits 83% less carbon dioxide equivalent (gases that contribute to global warming and climate change) into the atmosphere compared to conventional cotton.
